Driving and renting a car
Traffic in the south (Denpasar, Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu) can be dense and slow-moving, with narrower village roads once you head north or east. Indonesia drives on the left, which catches out visitors used to right-hand traffic. Many visitors on Bali actually rent scooters rather than cars, but for a car, an International Driving Permit is generally expected, and local enforcement of this has been reported to vary by area, so confirm current requirements with your supplier.
